Starting at age 13 I began volunteering in my churches childcare program working over the years with children 1.5-12 years old. I did this for a little over 7 years gaining experience working with different age groups as well as did several summer camps with elementary and middle school kids.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Creating a safe environment is most important to me. Overall children can learn a lot from play. It promotes the foundations of critical thinking and creativity as well as independence. Exploring outside during walks is a great way to get out some energy as well as learn from the nature that we see. Indoor play and reading are also important things to encourage in children. Music, art, and baking are also excellent ways to create fun memories!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making the environment as comfortable and safe as possible. In times where it can be hard for kids to have their parents away, I want to become a safe person they trust. Having that sense of safety and comfort really allows a child to show you their personality. It allows me to get to know them so I can see what support they need to help them grow!

There are so many. The moments where I see they trust and feel safe with me is always nice. I also love seeing big milestones, like crawling, walking, when their vocabulary expands. I also just love seeing a child’s sense of humor!
