Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…From the age of 13 I helped with after school care and assisting community dance classes to elementary children. I then apprenticed and became a dance instructor to ages 18 months to 18 years at dance studios and park districts - specializing in early childhood classes and helping toddlers develop motor skills and social skills!
Activities I enjoy doing with children…I love to get kids engaging in the food they eat and trying new things!
The most important part about being a nanny…Is understanding that you are there to be a reflection and extension of the parents. You are a great influence in the children's lives, so it is very important to set an example of kindness and respect. Most importantly - you are trusted to care for the most valuable part of a parent's life.
My experience with special needs children…I have taught dance to many different neuro-diverse children. Ranging from nonverbal, ADD, and on the autism spectrum. I have nannied for a family with an 8 year old on the spectrum, helping to communicate with his OT care and implement routines and verbal skills.
