More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have relevant experience working as a babysitter for multiple families with several children ranging from 6 months to 12 years old, each with different needs, for over seven years. I also volunteered at a children's theater company, where I supported creative and caregiving activities. As the oldest cousin in my family, I have always taken on a natural caregiving role—babysitting, helping with homework, and organizing fun games during family gatherings. In high school, I also participated in a mentoring program that paired older students with elementary schoolers to provide academic and emotional support. These experiences taught me patience, empathy, and how to adapt to each child’s unique needs. They strengthened my passion for working with children and deepened my desire to pursue a career in pediatric medicine.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Activities I enjoy doing with children include reading stories together, especially ones that spark their imagination or make them laugh. I love doing arts and crafts because it allows kids to express themselves creatively, and it’s always fun to see their personalities shine through their work. I also enjoy playing outdoor games, whether it's tag, soccer, or simply going on a nature walk, because it helps kids stay active and curious about the world around them. Baking simple treats together is another favorite—it's a fun way to teach following instructions and enjoy a sweet reward at the end. I also love helping with homework and coming up with educational games that make learning fun and engaging. Most of all, I enjoy simply being present, listening to what they have to say, and making them feel seen, safe, and celebrated for who they are.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, supportive environment where children feel valued and secure. It’s about building trust and forming a connection so they know they are seen, heard, and loved, even when their parents aren’t around. Every child has unique needs, and being able to adapt and provide the care they need—whether it’s comforting them during a tough moment or encouraging them to explore and be independent—makes all the difference. Being around youth is also incredibly refreshing. Their natural curiosity, honesty, and creativity bring a new perspective on life that can often be overlooked as we grow older. Their ability to find joy in the simplest things reminds me of the importance of embracing life with wonder and enthusiasm. It’s about being a positive role model, teaching them how to navigate the world with kindness and resilience, and helping them thrive while feeling loved and supported.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with special needs children has taught me patience, compassion, and adaptability. I have a 12-year-old cousin who is nonverbal and autistic, and I’ve helped care for him from a young age. Through this, I’ve learned how to build a strong bond through nonverbal communication, consistency, and emotional connection. I’ve also cared for many children with disabilities through babysitting jobs and my school’s leadership program, Link Crew, where I supported incoming freshmen with special needs as they go to high school. I worked to create an inclusive, welcoming environment while being sensitive to each student's needs. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of finding the balance between treating children with disabilities as equals—valuing their strength and independence—while also offering the specific support they need to feel safe and understood. These experiences have shaped my passion for inclusive care and strengthened my goal of pursuing pediatric medicine.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moments are the ones where I can see a child feel safe, seen, and happy in my care, especially when they’re away from their parents. Helping children adjust to separation is one of the most meaningful parts of caregiving. Whether through gentle reassurance, fun games, or simply listening, I love creating an environment where they feel understood and free to be themselves. Every time I see a child laughing, playing, or relaxing in my care, it reminds me of how powerful a nurturing presence can be. These moments make my day and remind me how important my role is in making children feel secure and valued. It’s humbling to witness the trust they place in me, and it inspires me to keep providing that stability and encouragement. Seeing them grow and enjoy their time away from home strengthens my passion for working with children and reminds me of the positive impact I can have on their lives.
