My experience with special needs children...
In high school, I volunteered at the North Carolina Therapeutic Riding Center, a camp specifically for children with special needs. I worked there as a volunteer for a total of 3 summers. Here, I worked with children of various special needs such as Autism, Down Syndrome, and many other behavioral and developmental disabilities. I would help them participate in camp activities, ride the horses, and make friends. I created strong connections with many of the children, and am even still in contact with one of them today.
