The most important part about being a nanny...
Watching the kids grow up. It's so important to me that I get to be a part of the crucial parts of them developing, and become familiar with them. I want to teach them to be good people and encourage good habits to set them up to be successful as adults. I like to think of myself as their big sister!
My experience with special needs children...
I provided one-on-one care for a child with cerebral palsy along with the other 2 children, supporting her daily routine both before and after school. My responsibilities included safely transporting her to school and extracurricular activities, assisting with homework and school projects, providing personal care and hygiene assistance, helping with dressing and bedtime and morning routines, and encouraging her independence whenever possible throughout the activities. I would monitor her physical exercises with both her occupational and physical therapists. My job would often include being nearby as a support to stabilize her between moving transitions and occasionally carry her to and from her wheelchair.
