A little bit about me

I’ve always been a kid magnet. I can’t tell you how often children of all ages are drawn to me with smiles on their faces, trying to get on my lap. Personally, travel is one of my great passions, but I also enjoy reading, writing short stories, swimming, baseball, live theater and music, and keeping in touch with my friends and family, both near and far. I do not watch TV, so I find no need to have the children I care for watch either. Instead, I love to sing, listen to music, read books, go for walks, and do age/stage appropriate imaginative play with the kids, as well as constantly speaking in English and counting in various languages to aid in language development. I also enjoy cooking, making homemade purees for first foods on up to finger foods and hiding veggies to keep picky toddlers eating healthfully. I love being a career nanny almost as much as I have loved each of the children I have worked with over the years.

I have been a full time career nanny for almost 30 years. I have worked for families in NYC, Hong Kong, and here in Winston with infants starting at as young as 7 weeks and have become specialized in 0-3 years (although I have worked with kids as old as 14).

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love rolling on the floor and playing with the kids! From supporting tummy time to crawling on me like a play gym and beyond, play time on the floor is always a hit. I also like taking them to classes, going to the library (I love to read and enjoy passing on that love to them by reading together), going on walks or to the park, and going to the kaleideum.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is giving and receiving love from the children I have the great pleasure of watching grow. I believe it’s the best part of being a nanny because it’s not something that’s available in any other child care setting. This is such an intimate job, we’re involved in the children’s and family’s lives, and it’s important to have a strong loving base for the children to build upon.
