Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I babysat for years during middle school thru college and reared my 3 children from birth. My oldest son is 25 and works full-time in hospital administration, 2nd son is 22 and in school for IT, and my daughter is 20 and is in school and works part-time. They are kind, involved, compassionate, happy young adults that I am super proud of. I also spent extensive time with my children and their peers, contributing hundreds of hours volunteering at my children's various schools from serving as homeroom mom in elementary school to read aloud during middle school and chairing Baccalaureate during high school. Lots of kid experience!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I am very adaptable and very comfortable with all kinds of various activities with children from observing bugs in the grass, listening to story time at the local library or reading aloud at home, exploring a children's museum or local bookstore or park, teaching fractions while baking...kids naturally love to learn and discover, and I adore watching the "lightbulb" turn on when a child grasps a new concept. I don't prefer a certain age; I enjoy aspects of all ages and multiple children are no problem. I'd delight in the opportunity to snuggle and gently care for a precious newborn as much as I'd enjoy watching the wheels turn in a 5 yr old's brain as they make a new discovery or listening to an 8 yr old excitedly tell me about their latest cool idea!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Having a positive influence in the lives of children and subsequently helping parents by easing the load so that they can be more present and experience better quality time with their children would give me a sense of satisfaction. Patience, emotional intelligence, trustworthiness, and kindness are all qualities I hold that will contribute to me being a great care provider.
My experience with special needs children...
My oldest nephew is on the autism and cerebral palsy spectrum and is the kindest, most sensitive soul I've ever had the pleasure of knowing and loving.
