I have a 15 year old son and I have younger siblings. CPR certified. I probably won’t be what you consider the average babysitter, I’m going to be the babysitter down in the floor playing with race cars or hide and seek. I think it is very important to participate in whatever game is important to the child and try to turn it into a learning game.

I play whatever games they want to play at the time or watch whatever movie they want to watch. I’m a very energetic person so I will be playing hide and seek or tag.

The most important thing a nanny can do is earn trust. Once you do that you can teach a child.
My experience with special needs children...
Special needs children have a special place in my heart. I’ve learned they are incredibly sweet but they can get frustrated when they cannot express what they need or want. Just like an infant or someone who can’t speak we have to be patient enough to learn what they need without them having to tell us. Learn their patterns and they will be be able to trust you enough to express what is going on with them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I used to babysit for a family in pigeon forge the girl was 10 at the time and we would do each others make up, have pretend tea parties, and always end the night watch the little mermaid. This girl is graduating high school this year and told me the other day that I was the one who taught her the patience needed to become a doctor. She wants to find a cure for Alzheimer’s! That is best best compliment and I am extremely honored I was able to teach her.
