Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
As a behavior therapist, I have cared for children ages 2-13. I worked in both at home, clinic, and school settings. Most of my therapy session lasted closed to 4 hours in which I played and interacted with the child. I used this time to teach children skills such as emotional regulation, functional communication, self-help skills (tying shoes, chores, dressing), etc. I also focused on behavior management such as reinforcing appropriate behavior, soothing a child through tantrums/meltdowns and putting aggressive behaviors on extinction. In the clinic setting, I changed diapers for the younger children ages 2-5. As a result of this experience, I am comfortable working with families and adjusting to various parenting styles.
