My experience with special needs children...
My roommate had 2 sons and his youngest was in a wheelchair and only ate through the tube he had surgically put in. I helped keep him happy and distracted while the machine pumped the special pre-packaged pureed food into his tummy. Changing his diaper and clothes was easier with 2 and the routine helped him learn how to help with putting his own coat on.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Having a young girl call me years after being her nanny and telling me I was always like a second mother or cool aunt. She and I get tea and talk about her junior high drama and I can help her grow in a way I thought I would never know.
