I have worked in a day care, I taught swimming lessons in to different locations, I've been a life guard, and I've nannied and babysat many times before.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to do crafts where the kids can go wild with their creativity. I love going outside and playing volleyball, football, and other sports the kids enjoy. I like taking kids to parks or pools where they can feel free yet safe with me there. I love playing board games or cards in order to have a few laughs. Reading books or telling stories is always a good time!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I realize being a parent can be rough, my goal is to give the parents a bit of relief while they are out in the work world trying to provide. On the other hand I also want to make the kids feel cared for and busy while the parents are gone.
My experience with special needs children...
In high school I took a class where I got to work everyday with special needs students, that inspired me to go into Special Education teaching which I pursued at UW Milwaukee. I've Babysat or many special needs children so I am very comfortable with that aspect.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment is definetly hard to pick out because there are so many! One that comes to mind is when I was nannying for a 9 year old girl and a 6 year old boy, and I brought them to the pool and taught them a bunch of water games and tricks. They loved it so much! The coolest part about it was when their mom told me that their swimming teacher moved them up a level after swimming with me. It made me feel so good and so happy for my little buddies.
