I love taking the students to outdoor activities that are hands on such as apple picking, animal farms, and parks. I also love creating sensory items and bins.
My experience with special needs children...
I have 6 years of experience with special needs children, and also have two siblings who are on the autism spectrum. I also currently work in a behavioral school for autistic children. Some of my skills include working with a variety of high behaviors such as biting, kicking, punching, self injurious behaviors, aiding patients in performing activities of daily living. Developing basic strategies to promote patient safety, wellness and independence.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Not a nanny moment, but my favorite moment was when I was able to successfully teach a client to use his AAC device. It was such a meaningful moment since my client was non verbal. Seeing them be able to communicate their needs and wants was such a happy moment.
