More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been babysitting my baby sister since she was three months old, She is five now. It’s not the same but it was to help my mother as she needed to work after school. I have another younger sibling age 11 that I also look after for here and there. I always have a good time with them. Recently I took care of a family friends daughter through a company called crystal stairs. She was four years old and an amazing little girl. We would play outside, read books, work on her activities booklets to get her ready for school, color/paint, watch tv and we would have talks and snack times as well as meal time. On some days her parents would leave specific to do list to do with her and I would help complete that list to the best of my abilities. It was great.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy practicing sports with the kids, reading to them or along with them, helping with their homework and school projects or anything the children will enjoy. I will follow the child’s lead as long as it’s safe and allowed by the parents. Children amaze me and I’ll be having a good time regardless.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part is to pay attention carefully and to always listen to what kids are saying. We live in a world where many times kids opinions don’t matter or they aren’t taken seriously enough because they are kids. I think differently, children should be taught that what they think matters and they are being heard. As well as kids safety is my top priority.
My experience with special needs children...
During the end of 2021, I was actually a volunteer at an autism learning center. I shadowed and helped the behavioral therapist with their tasks. The therapist would teach and help kids develop skills and thought processes to leave behind maladaptive behaviors. Although I was observing, I learned a lot and got a hands on experience with children. I’m aware this isn’t taking care of children but this experience proved to me that it’s my calling to work with kids.
