Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Whether we're at the park, riding scooters, reading a good book, or getting creative with arts and crafts, I'm always up for whatever makes them smile. I’m big on sports, creativity/art, learning games, workbooks, cooking/baking, playing at parks, board games, walking/hiking, beach/water activities, self-care/community teachings, bike rides, gardening/u-picks, visiting museums, picking out books/movies at the library and visiting their pla ystations and events. I aim to create a space where kids feel safe, supported, and excited for what’s next.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny/sitter/teacher is being able to teach the children and see their growth, as well as being that support for the parents.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with special needs children was as a lead teacher in toddler & infant classrooms, for over 2+ years at the Goddard School For Early Childhood Development. With the special needs children, I'd worked closely with non-verbal kids, teaching them sign language, helping them learn to engage in their own way with activities, teaching safe hands, and taking brain breaks/walks. As well as teaching social, emotional, creative art, cognitive, gross/fine motor learning.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny/teacher/sitter moment was when I was teaching this little girl sign language, and she did multiple signs that day, after only a few days of teaching. Everyday for weeks, I was teaching her walking, and she finally walked - she smiled, laughed, and caught it on video for the parents. We all shared and captured the moment together!
