One of my funniest and sweetest babysitting moments was when I was watching a little girl who decided she wanted to make me “dinner.” She disappeared into her play kitchen and came back with a plate full of plastic food, including a whole fake lemon, a slice of pizza, broccoli, and a cupcake. She told me I had to eat everything because “dessert comes after your vegetables.” I pretended to eat it and told her it was the best meal I’d ever had, and she looked at me completely serious and said, “I know, I’m a really good cooker.” 😂 Then she made me sit at the table while she brought me pretend seconds. It was such a small moment, but it was funny, sweet, and memorable because seeing how proud and excited she was reminded me how much I enjoy being around kids and letting them use their imagination.
