Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I am a Registered Medical Assistant worked as a pediatric nurse about 10 years combined. I have worked in a preschool/special needs daycare for 3 years combined. I was also a nanny for 6 kids around 3 years total out of my home.. Not to mention all the babysitting I have done since I was 12. I love caring for children, to watch them grow and learn. The children are God's gift and I take my job very seriously.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Depending on age, it is different. I usually like to do what the kids want to do. I color, read books, build blocks, race Hot Wheels, go to the park, or for infants I would stroll them around if ok with family, tummy time, read and sing to them. If the parents have special structure then I would abide with what family has planned for us. I am there for the children until their parents come home, I try my best to make the children as happy as I can so they won't be sad and crying wanting their parents. That is what I am there for, I am there for the children and their needs. They always come first.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is being 100% to the needs of the children. Point blank. Not being on phone, not ignoring children, to be there interacting and helping the children learn. Everything else can wait, my job is to be there 1 on 1 with the children.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked at Pediatrics Plus for a year and a half as a teachers assistant helping care for infants/toddlers in-between their therapy sessions.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My most favorite nanny moment is everyday. But I get so overjoyed when I witness a child accomplish a goal. Example: walking, rolling over, crawling, saying first words, or waving, eating solid foods or trying baby food out. Those are my favorite moments but like I said, everyday is special to me.
