A little bit about me

My name is Jashia & i am 17, i currently babysit a 2 year old girl but her and her family are moving back to hawaii so now all i have is time! I have babysat 8-10 year olds, infants, children with disabilities i work with a lot because i have family who have special needs so i am very familiar. I also have siblings on my own and my mom currently has one on the way but with her being a single mother i am always there to help! I learned how to cook ever since i was 6 because my mom basically grew up cooking and now i try to take time to learn all of her delicious recipes, specially pasta! It also my job to help the little ones and clean after them, my 2 year old i babysit im always tidying after her because she is very energetic and loves to play. i have lived in the bay area for all of my life, i was born in San Francisco and moved to Fairfield Ca two summers ago. I love to have fun, dance, sing, cook, & clean. I love kids like they are my own, & 100% except everyone for who they are!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny to me is understanding that when you first meet someone else’s kid or parent they won’t automatically trust you and you have to build that it’s not a given, making sure you treat their kid like your own and caring for them like your own.

My experience with special needs children...

Autism,DB, and LD. My half brother has LD and everyone kind of gives him a hard time because he has a hard time understanding but i always try my best to work slow with him, help him understand and try not to put a lot of stress onto him with his work because i’ve realized too much at one time is very overwhelming. I’ve tutored kids with autism, same with autism you kind of just have to take it slow and try to understand. I know a little bit of ASl considering my grandmother is deaf, and i also have worked with deaf kids before.

The most important part about being a nanny...

omg my favorite nanny moment was when i was babysitting and i went over to little mamas house and her mom accidentally packed her favorite snacks and took them to work with her so i had to improvise and find out what else she liked, so i remembered i brought some strawberries for myself and i gave her one, she DEVOURED them and her little eyes lit up it was the cutest thing and ever since then i made sure to always bring strawberries with me and her cute little smile always brought joy when i pulled strawberries out of my bag.
