The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment happened while I was a teacher’s assistant for a summer theater camp. We were doing a shortened version of The Jungle Book, and one of the leading ladies (a sweet middle school-aged girl) was having trouble learning her lines. I could tell she was getting frustrated and embarrassed, so I took her outside and read her lines with her one-on-one. She was still having trouble, but she became much calmer once she was away from the group. We worked together every day for the rest of the week helping her outside of the group. On the day of the performance, she still had a few mistakes, but I didn’t even notice until another student pointed them out. It was the first time all week that she was having fun being on stage, and that stuck with me more than anything else!
