Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My journey with childcare started in the home. I am the eldest of 3 girls, so naturally I count as their 3rd parent! (I love to constantly remind my siblings!) My major in college was in Early Childhood Education. I moved quickly into a home day care. After a few years, I moved into an daycare center/after-school program. In 2015, I became a mommy and that has been the best job of all! I continued in education(1 on 1 Para for diabetic student, co-teacher in toddlers/preschool classrooms) until about 2024 when I moved from classroom to elementary school operations. I continued babysitting for some of my families as well.
As much as I love being behind the scenes, I miss working with individual families.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love creating with children. I find it extremely rewarding watching them discover an experience or an idea for the 1st time. I also love going out to play outdoors. There is nothing quite like a walk in the sunshine, a dance in the rain or building a snowman in the park.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a nanny is much more than a job. Its a partnership between me and the family. The one on one attention to the child or children really supports their development. It allows for children to still be children and get through their milestones at their own pace!

My experience with special needs children...
Working in daycare centers, we had students that required their own accommodations. We worked closely with to come up with plans that worked both in school and at home.
I was also a 1 on 1 paraprofessional for a diabetic student. We worked together closely for years. I followed him from grade to grade until I left to follow teaching.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments is when one of my family's hired me for a family vacation in Jackson, Maine. We had a lovely drive up together. Telling stories and listening to music together and then, once we arrived, we had so much fun playing on the beach, taking boat rides around lake. We would go on nature walks around the property, finding different types of flowers, collecting them to make a bouquet. It was definitely a special moment for us. All we got a lot closer. And now I consider them like family.
