More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have volunteer experience working in daycare, preschool, and in church. I’ve babysat many of my little cousins of all ages, and have watched over close friends younger siblings as well.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love being outdoors and having adventures. Some fun things that I would do with a child outside may include, finger painting, playing a game or a sport, pretend to be fairies or pirates, do chalk, or even go for a little walk around the neighborhood looking for cool sticks or pretty flowers. Although being outside is nice, sometimes it’s also good to just stay home. Some fun things that I would do with a child in the house would be, learning how to play a board game, watch a movie or two, knock some homework out-of-the-way, make cleanup time or chores into a fun activity, have a dance battle, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny to me, is making sure that the family is satisfied, and always knows that their child is in good care and safe. Safety and bond are a couple words that immediately come to mind when I think of a child and a nanny. Bond is very important to have between nanny and parent, as well as between the nanny and the child. This will not only ensure that the parent is comfortable with and trust the nanny to care for their child, but also ensures a foundation of bond for the nanny and the child to build a relationship. Of course, safety is always a top priority. It is extremely important for parents to know that their child is safe in somebody’s care while they are away. It is also important and crucial that the child feel safe at all times. Whether that be during play time outside, walking around the neighborhood, and even at home. Finally, we cannot leave out how important it is for nannies to be and feel safe at all times in their surroundings.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve looked after 2 of my young cousins who have autism, a set of twins who have Down syndrome, as well as another cousin of mine, who is more severely diagnosed. Most of my experience is with people who have autism and Down syndrome. However, I am willing to work with kids who may have been diagnosed with something other than what I’ve mentioned. I am more comfortable, and prefer to care for a child who is more on the independent side of the spectrum, rather than a child who may have a more severe condition. Every child deserves someone who can meet their needs in an efficient way that works for them. I have the skill set to care for children who may require some extra help and attention. I do not however, have the skill set required to care for a child who may have outbursts, seizures, severe anxiety, diaper, falls, etc. Thank you for understanding, and good luck on your search!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I honestly have no favorite moment. I have so many amazing memories with my little cousins. Many Barbie dates, TikTok’s, walks, and playground trips, all with their own day, time, and story. I just love being around the kiddos and being able to observe and soak up that youthful, warm, innocent feeling. To be free, and take in every small moment of life.
