A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Jenna, a dependable and energetic childcare provider from Kalkaska, MI with several years of hands-on experience working with children from infancy through early elementary ages. I’ve supported classrooms in preschools, daycares, and elementary schools, helping create safe, nurturing, and fun environments where kids can learn and grow.

I’m trained in First Aid, AED, infant safe sleep, and medication administration, and I always prioritize safety, communication, and positive behavior. I’ve handled everything from daily routines—like diaper changes, meals, bottles, and nap time—to helping lead lessons, supervising play, tutoring small groups, and maintaining organized, child-friendly spaces. I'm also open to NANNY-SHARE!

Families and teachers describe me as trustworthy, patient, and great at communicating with both kids and adults. I truly love working with children and feel passionate about helping them feel supported, encouraged, and cared for.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve cared for children in multiple settings, including Redeemer Lutheran Preschool, Ms. Patti’s Daycare, and Birch Street Elementary. At Redeemer Lutheran Preschool, I supported children ages 3–5 by helping lead activities, supervising play and classroom routines, and communicating daily needs with parents and staff. At Ms. Patti’s Daycare, I cared for infants and toddlers through diaper changes, bottle feedings, snacks, naps, and creating a clean, safe, and engaging classroom. At Birch Street Elementary, I helped maintain a nurturing environment, supported teachers by preparing work areas, and worked with small groups of students to reinforce learning. Across all roles, I focused on safety, positive behavior, and helping children feel supported and encouraged.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love keeping kids engaged with activities that help them learn, explore, and have fun. Some of my favorite things to do with children include hands-on crafts, simple science or sensory activities, reading books together, and playing age-appropriate games that build social and motor skills. I enjoy planning creative art projects, outdoor playtime, and imaginative play that lets kids express themselves. I also like helping with structured learning—such as practicing letters, numbers, or early math—while keeping it fun and encouraging. Whether we’re doing crafts, playing outside, or working on a small learning activity, my goal is to create moments that are safe, positive, and meaningful for each child.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is creating a space where children feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for. Kids thrive when they know they can trust the person taking care of them, and I believe in being that steady, positive presence in their day. It’s not just about routines and responsibilities—it’s about building a warm connection, supporting their growth, and helping them navigate their emotions and experiences. Being a nanny means showing patience, offering encouragement, and treating each child as the unique individual they are. Above all, it’s about helping them feel loved and confident as they learn and grow.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working one-on-one with a 6-year-old boy with high-functioning autism, where I learned how to support his unique communication style, routines, and sensory needs. Through patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, I helped him stay engaged during activities, transition smoothly between tasks, and feel comfortable in his environment. While my experience is limited to this child, it taught me valuable skills in understanding individual needs, offering calm guidance, and creating a supportive space where children can succeed.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments while working in childcare was during an activity where the kids were learning to write their names. One child who had been struggling for days finally wrote his name completely on his own. The look of pride on his face was unforgettable—he jumped up, ran over to show me, and said, “I did it by myself!” Moments like that remind me why I love working with children. Watching their confidence grow and seeing how excited they become when they master something new is one of the most rewarding parts of this work.
