A little bit about me

Hi there! My name is Jenna, I am 22 and have my CDA and am finishing up my associates in early childhood education that covid put a pause on. I have been in various childcare settings such as daycares, after school programs, nannying and babysitting for a total of just about 5 years. I am ASL fluent, CPR, first aid and water safety certified along with having plenty of experience lesson planning and incorporating fun into learning.
I have a passion for teaching younger kiddos how to human: regulating their bodies and their emotions, learning boundaries and social skills. I believe children learn through play based learning and having fun is a big part of the job!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I’m huge on going to the library for out loud readings and various classes the Louisville free public library’s host, along with going just to read and explore. I love making crafts to secretly refine fine motor skills, playing, singing, dancing and making music for gross motor. I also love just being outside and exploring the world that we live in and the fun science bits behind it! I enjoy implementing practical life skills and having kiddos help me out in the kitchen by baking or preparing meals and snacks. Really anything to help teach kiddos how our world and them interact.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making your time with you family and kids more valuable to you and helping little ones to teach, grow, inspire and love. If I can teach and love a child under my care while also taking care of the home, it makes your job as parent a little bit easier when you get home (at least I hope). I never want a parent to worry about their child or home when under my supervision, your job is to go to work and come home to love your baby - mine is to help out every step of the way in between and I love that I do.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked closely with of my special friends! I myself am on the autism spectrum and have had a child with autism in my classroom as a daycare teacher along with a child with Down syndrome - the only difference between these kiddos and every other one in my care is that sometimes, we just need more patience. But boy did they know how to have fun!
