A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Jennifer, but most people call me Jen. I’m completing my bachelor’s degree in elementary education online and have about one year remaining. I also student teach in the mornings, so I’m available most afternoons.

I have worked in several daycare and childcare centers and a few elementary schools. I also helped my sister raise my two oldest nieces for about five years. I have cared for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old and am comfortable caring for one child or managing groups of up to 25 children.

I enjoy creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment where children can be themselves. I’m happy to help with activities, playtime, meals, homework, and daily routines.

I have a valid food handler card and first aid and CPR certification for adults, children, and infants.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have held a handful of jobs with kiddos. I nannied for a few months once I graduated high school and started college. The two kiddos I nannied were elementary school aged. After I left my nannying position I started at a daycare center where I worked with babies 6 weeks old to elementary aged for the after school program. I left that daycare center after a little over 9 months for another center where I worked with kiddos from 6 weeks to elementary aged. I worked there for a year before making the decision to take a position at a local elementary school as an assistant. I worked at that elementary school for three years. In those three years I worked with both special needs kiddos as a shadow and in general education classrooms as an aide. The elementary school held Pre-K to 1st grade.
I also helped my sister raise my oldest two nieces for roughly 5 years.
I also was a lower elementary teacher teaching primarily 2nd grade for about 4 years as well.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Arts and crafts are always a fun activity with kiddos. I enjoy time outside either on walks or just playing outside with our imaginations. Dress up is another exciting activity depending on the age and the kiddos preferences.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with kiddos with special needs for two years. I have worked with kids that have few needs to those who have high needs. I’ve worked with kiddos with speech delays and nonverbal kiddos. I have worked with kiddos that have autism to kiddos that are developmentally behind and need just a little extra help.
