Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was previously a teacher, although it was for older students (university level). My first job ever was babysitting though, which cemented my love for kids! Since that time, I have worked hands-on with children at a number of different jobs, as well as volunteered with the YMCA and the Nashville Public Library to help teach kids to read. Additionally, I have started a non-profit that benefits lower income families as well as those living in food deserts have access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and part of that project involved garden planning and planting with kids (I managed large groups of children). I am highly capable whether you have one child or a whole team!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I meet the children where they are at….we do what they love! I have a great imagination and I’m up for just about anything.
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me, the most important part about being a nanny is to approach children with the remembrance of what it was like to be their age, but with my knowledge of what I have learned through education of what their development is at their age as well as the additional knowledge and wisdom I have gained through life experience of growing into the adult I am today. I don’t approach children WITH my adult perspective, because they aren’t capable of thinking and feeling that same way, but I do use that adult perspective to help guide them.
My experience with special needs children...
I have degrees in psychology and neurology, with a focus on memory and special populations. I do have direct experience working with those on the spectrum. I also have experience with transitioning children. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to ask.
