More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked as a nanny for eight years. I also have experience as a lead daycare teacher in one- and two-year-old classrooms, have completed a year of student teaching in a kindergarten classroom, and have worked as a camp counselor.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love working on developmental milestones with children! Learning through play is so important to me. Getting outside and exploring nature is a big part of my philosophy as well.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is acting as an extension of the family. My primary role is to support the requests of the parents and perform as they would if they were home with their child.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with autistic children with low support needs and am also on the autistic spectrum myself, so I find I often am able to connect with children also on the spectrum. I have been a nanny for quintuplets who all had varying developmental delays as they were premature. I have also provided care for children with Type 1 Diabetes and have experience with Dexcoms and specifically the T:Slim series insulin pumps.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite “nanny wins” was with one of my first nanny families. I had B3 and G7 at the time. It was about 50 degrees outside and we were going to the park. G7 was very adamant about not wanting to wear a coat. I told her I would not make her wear it, but we would bring it with us anyway. About 10 minutes into playing, she sheepishly came over and said “Jess, can we get my coat out of your bag? You’re right, it is pretty cold.” Natural consequences for the win and we never had to fight over the coat again!
