A little bit about me

I have never been a nanny in an official sense, however, I have played an active role in raising multiple children, starting with my brother and neighbor's children when I was just a child, leading into nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and family friends. I don't mean just babysitting. My mom wasn't equipped to raise my brother and I. I was the caretaker in my home as long as I can remember and sole provider at 14. 2 nieces were being cared for by me more than their mother throughout their childhood. Both chose to live with me in their teenage years until they were adults and able to be independent. I also played a very active role in their children's lives, one in more of a parenting/part time live-in role due to an absent father. I happily took on these bonus parent roles. I also cared for a friend's toddler daughter while he was stationed overseas with the military. I was a CNA from the time I was 16-23 so I have been cpr and first aid certified but am not currently.

My experience with special needs children...

I volunteered at a daycare specific for children in the dfs system. Many of those children had various special physical, emotional and learning needs. My brother, a niece, a great nephew and niece also have ADHD and other learning disabilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Too many to mention here. Anything from a precious moment like a child falling asleep on me to the excitement of a child learning something new or having an experience they've never had before.
