Activities I enjoy doing with children...
It depends on the age of the child/children. I enjoy playing hide and seek, board games, coloring books, arts & crafts and etc. If the weather is nice we would go to the park, play tag, have a picnic, paint rocks and etc. I first have to learn the child/children first to see what really gets them excited and go from there.
The most important part about being a nanny...
You get to watch the child/children grow in real time. You get to support and teach them new things. You have to have patience, patience is one of the most important parts. You have to be able to communicate and be creative. You sometimes have to be a problem solver when it's more than one child. You have to do what you're getting paid to do, watching the child. household duties, meal prep or cooking. You have to be a positive role model for the child/children.
My experience with special needs children...
I have no experience with a special needs child. But I'm willing to learn if needed.
The most important part about being a nanny...
With over 10+ years with children it's impossible to name just one favorite moment because it has been so many. So I'll give you one that's still surprises me to this day. When I was working at Momma T's daycare there was one boy that was stuck to my hip since day 1. One day during class we were teaching them to write their names and he was getting so aggravated. So I let him try a few more times and then I put my hand over his and we started tracing the lines. I took 20 minutes out of each day for a month. Momma T got a call that he was accepted into preschool I was so said he was leaving but so proud at the same time. So fast forward a few months it's a knock at the door and it's him and his mom she explained that he cried to come see me. I said it's okay we hugged and he asked me for a pencil and some paper and he wrote his name with no problem and he looked at me and said thanks Ms. Jessie for teaching me to write my name I love you. That is my favorite moment from him.
