A little bit about me

I am a mother of three grown children. Ages 21, 19, and 18. Before I had children I worked as a respite worker for handicapped children and was a certified nursing assistant.
All of this was many years ago and I am simply trying to make some extra income.
For complete transparency I have a rare none contagious disorder that was caused by asthma. It’s called chronic eosinophilic pneumonia. I am a safe driver and have a clean driving record. As well as reliable 2018 Toyota Camry and I have full coverage insurance. I am not a smoker, I love working on arts and crafts,
I believe in consistency and transparency when teaching children. Implementing the stop light method for younger children and boundaries setting with consequences being known before hand for older children. Reward based learning, which is supported by routine. I am a no nonsense person who does what I say and I say what I mean.

The most important part about being a nanny...

as a caregiver of someones child you have their world that you are responsible for not only physically caring for but nurturing and fostering the morals and values of their family providing love comfort and stability for their children as well as helping those in your care blossom into the stages of learning and development that your privileged to be a part of. children are special resilient and innocent and its a communities responsibility to help insure through the primary years that we lead by example to demonstrate compassion empathy kindness as well as love.

My experience with special needs children...

Before I had children (22 years ago) I worked for behavioral services, Easter seals of NC., horizons special needs orphanage.I also worked as a CNA with the elderly. I have experience with children who are on the spectrum especially since I had two who were diagnosed with sensory integration dysfunction. But I have also worked with children and children who never grow up who were diagnosed with different types of special needs. Triple X syndrome, Down’s syndrome and others. I do have a soft spot for autism and mostly relate well children who are autistic or on the spectrum.
I know some games and play therapy for tactical stimulation, some strategies for oral stimulation food based. And also reset calming strategies for the moments when it’s needed, restraint free. I believe that no matter what someone is diagnosed with or what obstacles they may have in front of them they are capable of trying to learn anything. I do not believe in cuddling or limiting children disabled or not

The most important part about being a nanny...

there are so many but most surround moments when a child learns something new for the first time. the awe and smile can't be replaced, one client learned up and down and even though physically she is well passed 20 when she sees me she still replays the up down game song. I don't believe in baby talk to children but I do believe and love to participate in learning through play.
