A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Joei! I am 21 and currently in school to get my degree as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. I am only CPR certified for adults as of now, however, I am fully willing to find and take a course to get certified for children before I begin working with any! I cannot drive but am willing to take kids on walks, to nearby parks, and such. I am willing to work overnights if need be, and I am great with pets as well! (I have 4 cats myself) I can work with up to 4 children, I am not experienced in being a nanny but I am experienced with children. I'm the fourth out of 6 kids and have been babysitting cousins, siblings, etc.. since I was 12 years old.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I did YTY (youth tutoring youth) in high school where I worked in a preschool classroom for 1 semester and a 3rd-grade classroom for another semester. I have also had babysitting experience from the age of 12 on up. I currently work at a group home for cognitively disabled adults, which isn't the same as working with kids but lines up in many similar ways.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love going on walks with kids. I also like encouraging kids to do activities to "Surprise mommy/daddy" like baking cookies or making cards. For older children, I like to give them a list of choices and have them decide what we do that day, for younger children I give ideas until they perk up. For babies, I love playing imaginative and educational games, or if they are very small just giving them a lot of attention and talking to them/singing to them a lot. I love singing to young babies.

My experience with special needs children...

I am currently in school to become an early childhood special education teacher. I worked one on one with a 3rd grader who was diagnosed with autism when I was a senior in high school. I grew up with learning disabilities and I believe that impacted how patient I am. I will never ever yell at your child, I will always sit down and have a discussion with them instead. I may not have the most hands-on experience with special needs children, but my passion lies with helping and forming connections with these children more than anythings else.
