I love to go outside to climb trees or swing on swings or bring them to a park. Inside we could do arts and crafts or puzzles or play with toys. We could add in screen time if allowed.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure that they’re cared for of course, but that they feel seen and loved. I want them to be able to have fun and feel free to be a kid! Children are very impressionable and remember how they felt and were treated as a kid and what kind of childhood they had even if they can’t remember specific events. I hope one day when I have kids that they will feel loved by me and my husband and safe to come to us with anything!
My experience with special needs children...
I don’t have much experience with special needs children but I have a younger cousin with down syndrome who I’ve babysat a few times.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I used to watch a little boy and we would go for car rides all the time. Now he loved playing the Lego Batman video game and sometimes on our drives we would pass a car that looked like the Joker’s and he would say “oh no! It’s the Joker! We gotta get away, Joëlle!” He was so sweet and a funny kid but he kept me on my toes for sure haha!
