A little bit about me

Hey, my name is John Occhipinti! I’m 27 years old, and I’m from Scranton, PA, and I have 4 amazing sisters! Besides helping my dad move couches, shovel sidewalks and mow lawns, my first official job was at my mom’s daycare when I was around 14! I truly loved it, and like helping raise my little sister, I found joy in helping the kids with daily milestones. The kids’ ages ranged from 0-6, and I did everything the other workers did, including changing diapers, and bottle feeding the babies! Although, my chosen career profession(s) have never been childcare orientated, I’ve learned how to code, I design websites, I have my drone license as well, and I play music, and have acted in multiple movies (check out “The Nomads” on Amazon prime!) I ended up becoming what I know note as a “Manny” after being the DogWalker for an amazing family in my town. Although, it’s been the best 3 years of my life. It is time for me to go and adventure elsewhere, maybe I can help with your kids along the way!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My first job was at my mom’s daycare when I was 14, prior to that, I got paid by my parents to watch my little sister Londyn who is 6 years younger than me, and my baby cousin Paris who is 12 years younger than me. I also worked at my aunt’s daycare, and as a ski instructor at my local mountain!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As for physical activities I’m pretty athletic. I was a ski instructor for a few years, and taught all 4 kids i babysat for the last 3 years how to ski! I’m getting pretty good at snowboarding, as well.

At 5’9” I’ve dunked a basketball, and I played semi-pro rugby (hoping to make that pro rugby one day!)

I taught myself how to do flips off of things from years of jumping on my trampoline.

I enjoy yoga, and mindfulness, and I enjoy walking dogs!

I want to get into MMA, my 4’11” older sister beat me up until I was 5’8” and 13 which trained me to be a pretty good natural fighter, but I also think wrestling is one of the best workouts ever.

I like hiking, and I can pick up any sport pretty quickly.

I also love playing music, and I have taught myself a few things on piano, guitar, drums, and whatever instruments I can get ahold of.

I fly drones, edit videos, make websites, and plan on being one of the biggest entertainers, as athletes of all-time!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Realizing it’s more than just a job, if it was just about getting paid, I would put more time into another endeavor to make back that money. It’s about being connected to the kids and the family, and creating a space of growing beauty and richness within your life, and theirs. Creating lasting memories, and shaping their future with brightness and optimism.

My experience with special needs children...

Nothing formally, but totally okay with it! I helped a few special needs kids learn to ski as an instructor!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Wow, this is tough, I’ve been so blessed to have enjoyed so many amazing moments as a manny. Becoming the manny was truly special. I was the dogwalker, and I had a crush on their babysitter. She was maternal, caring, sweet, and beautiful, and I came to find out she was moving to Hawaii. So I planned a surprise going away party for her with the kids. I baked a big pan of berry cream pie, and bought lei’s and set the stage for her grand departure. It was at that moment they asked me to be the manny, and that moment I knew I wanted to be the manny.

A few other amazing moments included teaching the kids how to ski, and seeing them excel beyond my wildest dreams. Now that was unbelievable. Watching their sporting events and seeing them excel was awesome too. When we first watched The Nomads, my first ever acting experience and my first time in a movie, where somehow made the cover that has to be up there. There’s so many that saying goodbye in a few weeks is going to be so tough to do.
