Safety; physically and emotionally, is the most important thing about being a nanny. Ensuring the child’s safety is alway my priority. I will make sure that your child’s needs are met and cared for, and that I will put their well-being before my own.
My experience with special needs children...
While I don’t have direct experience with special needs children, I do have work experience and college education that can be beneficial in this type of work. During my time in college, I took child psychology, pediatric nursing, psychological nursing, and human growth and development. I have also worked as a home-health caregiver, working with elderly and disabled populations.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Not quite a nanny moment, but when I was a camp counselor, one of my 8 year old campers crawled into my lap during the last fire. Then 2 more of my girls proceeded so sit down on either side of me and cuddle up.
Another time, with this same group of girls, I was getting them ready for bed and for some reason they didn’t want to brush their teeth. My response was to sing a parody of “row row row your boat” to get them to start brushing. I’ve never seen a group of 8 year olds move faster. :)
