A little bit about me

Hello my name is Joni and I have been taking care of children more years than I can count! I have an M.S.Ed and a B.S. in Psychology. I love to help babies develop their motor and language skills. My children usually have a very high vocabulary by 13 months. We play games sing songs and may sit on a mount of grass for as long as the child likes to play with the grass and bugs. I specialize in first time mom's but have worked with children of all ages. I have beautiful references and some of the babies I have taken care of are now 9, and I am still in touch with those parents and have gone on vacations with them when I am available I am creative, loving and like to have fun making the little ones laugh. I teach them how to be independent and to learn to entertain themselves. My communication skills are excellent which helps me to be more intuned with what each child needs to be happy and confident. Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Any type of learning, lots of reading and teaching about body awareness, language development. Even with the very young babies, helping them with the startle reflex depending on the situation. We tend to do a lot of singing and making up songs even though I can not carry a tune. My most famous song is "I like peanut butter and jelly" lol Helping the mother feel confident with her new baby and offering mother advice when needed or asked for.

Love and the child knowing that he or she is safe and which helps the moma go to work and not have a worry about their child all day because they are loved like family. Of course the other most important thing is that we are all a match for each other, myself, your child and you as parents.

So many, my peanut butter and jelly song was one of those special moments. Having a very sick baby fall asleep on my chest and not moving for 2 hours when I had to go to the bathroom because they needed that warmth and security to sleep. I was in NC for a few years where it rained all the time, so we would pull out the umbrellas and go for a walk in the rain singing, there was always huge puddles and he might play and run through them until he was pooped.
