Hi I'm Joni! I'm 44 and having no kids of my own, I love helping out friends and family with their little ones! I am especially great with Musicial activities (playing instruments and singing when appropriate) story time/reading, and would feel more than happy to help out with homework. I've worked as a teacher (horticulture and gardening) over the years, and think that it's especially important to get young ones outside in nature learning about their local environment: plants trees flowers ...
I love art, both creating it and appreciating it...I also love to cook and am happy to give special attention to detail in this arena.

I feel like the most important thing concerning childcare is to treat children as emotional and intellectual people equals; encouragement , positive feedback, respectfulness, thoughful consideration, conscientiousness and kindness.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Treating all people, young and old with respect, compassionate and consideration.
Imploring and implementing (tremendous!) etiquette with regards to manners/politeness/ personal& spatial awareness, grooming, respectful demeanor in social situations, and advocating for self starter responsibility when it comes to "cleaning up"- whether that's in the kitchen, in someone's room, in a play area, bathroom, in a car, as a guest at someone else's home or office etc.. teaching conscientiousness and when/as appropriate imploring all these things by showing and assisting by personal example.

My experience with special needs children...

I have just begun working with a six-year-old that has autism. I'm interested in learning all that I can with regards to this special needs consideration- so though I'm still new at it, I am eager to learn as much as possible and I'm willing to do outside training courses when appropriate and as required or recommended.
