Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I regularly volunteered to be the assigned dental assistant during pediatric dental appointments. I also have experience being a nanny/sitter over multiple summers for two young children (elementary school age) who were in my care from morning to evening on all weekdays. We had a blast going on picnics, playing at parks, reading books, going to arcades, doing arts and crafts, etc. Additionally, I’ve intermittently been a sitter for family friends when parents needed the extra help or just a night out to themselves.

Picnics, soccer, arts/crafts, board games, reading, aiding in completion of homework assignment/school projects, playing at the playground, watching Disney movies w/ popcorn and healthy snacks, puzzles, etc.

My experience with special needs children...
I have two sisters who are identical twins that are on the autism spectrum so I’ve grown up with autism familiarity. I learned how to navigate moments of helping them with being overstimulated, struggling to communicate, providing literal and intentional directions to aid in minimal mistakes and increased confidence, encouraged them to be unapologetically themselves as they grew into adolescence, and have softly guided them in a way they understand best to get through all the things that life teaches us.

Showing up at my kiddos house in the morning at the start of the day and seeing them jumping and shouting “Jo’s here! Jo’s here!” as they ran towards me for hugs❤️
