Had an employee come in who rented a booth from us who's sitter cancelled because they went to the ER. They had a new client coming in from out of town and asked me to babysit her special needs son in my office while she did her appointment. He is mostly non-verbal but we did have a good time with the little boy and my daughter.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Making a positive impact on the child or kids at the end of the day. Whether it's in their minds and we just created positive core memories together, or the parents being extremely grateful for the help while also feeling like they did right by their kids and parenting style. I always love when the kids tell their parents how much fun they had with me.
My experience with special needs children...
Minimal training but I have handled special needs children. I almost took a job with the Granite School district for the special needs classroom due to my knowledge but I was looking for full-time work and they couldn't offer me that at the time.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Honestly I'm a big fan of kids sleeping in their own beds, but I do enjoy a successful movie night or marathon. When everyone is happy, entertained, full, and dozing off to sleep after a good movie.
I also love spontaneous hugs and thank you from kids who appreciate having fun with me. I don't love it when kids think of me as a mom, and I try to circumvent that, but a fun auntie in a sort of way is better vibes as long as theyre maintaining awareness that I'm just here as their nanny. It makes me feel like I'm really making an impact and doing a good job when they run to me for safety because I'm a person they can trust and come to for comfort.
