A little bit about me

Hi! My names Joyce and I’m an immigrant from the Philippines; I’ve been living here since 2008. I speak fluent tagalog. I’ve always loved kids and in the future I plan to go into to pediatric nursing after high school. I’m currently going into my senior year at Laguna Creek high school and am part of the IB program. Before I transferred schools I was part of the volleyball and cheer teams. The past summer last year I got into Shriner’s Hospitals for Children of North California’s “Summer Youth Academy” where i worked with nurses and learned from doctors through watching their practices and helping around. This experience solidified my want to go into children’s health. I’m an only child and when my little cousins were born I realized the one thing that never fails to make me smile is little kids :) Because of COVID-19, my family has been struggling to pay bills and it’s come to the point where I need a job. I’m hoping to get one doing something I love and enjoy with your family!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I was part of the volleyball team as a DS and a cheerleader as a flyer. I still have my pompoms and would love to teach your kids some cheers! I’m open to playing and learning to play anything they enjoy. I also love card games, board games, and playing with dolls. I have my own set of American Girl dolls with a bunch of clothes and some old dolls from when I was younger that I could bring over. As a hobby, I love reading and would love to introduce your kid to some of my childhood favorites. My mom would always read from a classic fairytales book to me before I slept; it’s still in my garage somewhere and I’d love to continue that tradition with your kids. As for sports, I also enjoy basketball :)

The most important part about being a nanny...

My mom is a a single mom and I grew up mostly alone. As an only child, our household is pretty empty. I know that these trying times have put a lot of parents in overtime for their essential jobs, I want to make sure that your kid has someone to lead them to be a good person while also having fun, something that I missed out on when I was little. To me, the most important part about being a nanny is both supporting, understanding, and loving your kid while leading them down the right moral paths and pushing them to be the best person they can be.

My experience with special needs children...

My childhood best friend’s brother had autism. Her mom often worked and because of financial stresses, she was often left to care for him. Because we were neighbors, she’d always bring him after school when we’d do our homework together and we were all practically siblings.
