I am currently a special education teacher at Prairie Elementary and have been working with kids for as long as I can remember. I love to play, teach, and help kids learn and grow. Because of my background in education, I’m comfortable helping with homework, reading, and learning activities. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have grown up babysitting for family members and have translated that into my professional careers! I have taught children’s gymnastics and swimming, worked after-care in various settings, and worked in an ABA clinic where I worked closely with children with developmental delays. I've also worked in a preschool setting for a few years and am now working in the school system as a certified special education teacher!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy getting outside and moving around! I love to run, jump, hike, and play. Of course, I can always have a fun day staying at home too. I enjoy making crafts, singing songs, creating dances, playing games, and coming up with fun activities to keep kids entertained and engaged.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I am an advocate for appropriate child development. I tend to look out for traits in children that suggest they are struggling with a developmental milestone. This can range from physical motor movements to speech to emotional regulation. I've personally studied and have been involved with childhood development and applying learned aspects with the kids I get to play with! In this way, I get to grow as a care taker and the kiddos get to grow into their own selves!

My experience with special needs children...

I worked in an ABA clinic for a year. I took data on physical, cognitive, and social development from programs specialized to each child. I am trained in behavioral learning techniques and de-escalation strategies. I’d like to note that I do not practice ABA anymore and now prefer the DIR Floortime therapy method. Currently, I'm in my second year of being a sepcial education teacher for grades K and 3-5.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was watching over a child who was delayed in his speech and rarely said my name. One day, after he woke up from a nap, he screamed “JUUULLLESSS!” When I walked in he had outstretched arms waiting for a hug. It was such a special moment for me!
