A little bit about me

I am a former foster parent for therapeutic foster children (special needs children) plus I worked in daycare (various ages from 6 week old to 12 year olds) for 12+ years. I am experienced with special needs children as well, including developmental delays, ADD and ADHA, autism, and cerebral palsy. I have had several nanny positions, and remain in contact with some of the families and the children as an “honorary aunt” as they wanted me to remain in the children’s lives after my nanny position ended. I have a BA in Early Elementary Education (4 year olds to 4th grade), but never taught after my year of student teaching (and occasional substitute teaching) choosing instead to work with the younger ages in daycare and to start doing foster care.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a Sunday school teacher for over 2 decades. I was also co-founder and co-leader of Schenectady Pilgrim Holiness Church Youth Group, a group that got inner city youth involved with helping out in their community, and worked with them to accomplish community service activities, amongst other things.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, crafts, playing and exploring outdoors, singing songs, and learning new things (both academic and life skills).
