The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing, of course, is to keep the children safe. After that, I think my duty is to make sure they are entertained in some way--with a book, a game, whatever. I do not believe in parking children in front of a television set. It is not good for their brain development. Children need real-world experiences, getting their hands dirty, running around and going down a slide, putting their hands in the sand. That's the most important part of being a child--to learn from the real world.

I took care of a severely autistic child who was apraxic and intellectually challenged for almost 10 years.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was taking care of my goddaughter Amber--she was just under two years of age. There was a thunderstorm, and I repeated the word "thunder" every time I heard it. And Amber looked out of the glass door and said, "Thunder. Thunder!" It was so precious--I still have the video!
