A little bit about me

Hello! I'm Kalee and originally from Iowa. I moved to NC to compete for the Lenoir-Rhyne volleyball team while working towards a master's in Human Services. Currently, I have a bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Studies, and master's degrees in in Human Services and Education. I am working on another bachelor's degree in Emergency and Disaster Management with anticipated completion being Dec 2027.
I am looking for full or part-time jobs, watching up to 5 children. I also have experience with overnights, pet sitting, and house sitting. I have 12 years of nannying experience, with 10 years of occasional babysitting and 2 years of care in a licensed early learning center as an assistant teacher. References available upon request!

I am also the head volleyball coach at Alexander Central. My afternoon availability varies Aug - Oct, but I have the tentative schedule made and can work to accommodate both of our needs!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

In high school, I was a 5-sport athlete, so I spent a lot of time working with children at camps, coaching youth recreation teams, and doing individual skill sessions with younger athletes.
Playing volleyball at MSU and Lenoir-Rhyne gave me many opportunities to work with children through camps and giving swim lessons.
I have worked at a daycare, an early learning center, and a child development center during college, as well as nannied and babysat for 30+ families starting as early as 12 years old.
I am also the curret volleyball coach at Alexander Central, and we host youth camps every summer!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

When the weather permits, I love to get active outside by going for walks or to the park, swimming, or doing other activities in the community. When it is cold or rainy, I love to come up with creative ideas for projects, crafts, and learning experiences. I am open to learning how to do new things and taking the children on new adventures! I have to brag a bit; I can make a pretty awesome blanket fort for rainy or sick days :)

My experience with special needs children...

I have 2,000 hours working directly with a child with Autism in a licensed early learning center/child development center environment. In my 4,500 hours at the daycare, I have worked with children on behavior plans, children with ADHD and learning disabilities, and children with behavioral issues.
I have logged nearly 1,500 hours working in a group home, and although the members were 18+, the training was extensive and applied to people of all ages. I have babysat for 4 families with various special needs, and have learned bits and pieces from each one; primarily that everyone is different and sticking to what works for each individual is so important!
