In high school, I was 5 sport athlete, so I spent a lot of time working with children at camps, coaching youth recreation teams, and doing individual skill sessions with younger athletes.
Playing volleyball at MSU, FMU, and now Lenoir-Rhyne gave me many opportunities to work with children such as camps and giving swim lessons.
I have worked at a daycare, an early learning center, and a child development center in my time throughout college, as well as nannied and babysat for 30+ families starting as early as 12 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When weather permits, I love to get active outside by going on walks or to the park, going swimming, or other activities in the community. When it is cold or rainy, I love to come up with creative ideas for projects, crafts, and learning experiences. I am open to learning how to do new things and taking the children on new adventures! I have to brag a bit; I can make a pretty awesome blanket fort for rainy or sick days :)
My experience with special needs children...
I have 2,000 hours working directly with a child with Autism in a licensed early learning center/child development center environment. In my 4,500 hours at the daycare, I have worked with children on behavior plans, children with ADHD and learning disabilities, and children with behavioral issues.
I have logged nearly 1,500 hours working in a group home, and although the members were 18+, the training was extensive and applied to people of all ages. I have babysat for 4 families with various special needs, and have learned bits and pieces from each one; primarily that everyone is different and sticking to what works for each individual is so important!
