A little bit about me

I’m a semi retired professional, with a 30 year old daughter. I love animals & kids & would be a great addition to any family! I’ve had boxers & worked with both big breeds & small. I’m a Disney expert, can sing almost every song from all the movies on command & can name all seven dwarfs. Love girly girls, but played soccer & baseball with the guys growing up. I also have two grown nephews who will contest to my ability to put Lego sets together, but I’m horrible at video games! I’m available Monday-Thursday until you get home from work but can work later on occasion for a date night. More than happy to help with light house work & laundry. I do have a few Fridays a month I’m not available but could work a couple to help out to make it up. Just wanting to get out of the house more & make some vacation money!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I recently was a nanny for a toddler boy in Santa Clara. His parents could not afford a nanny any longer, & my mother passed away so I took some time off. I have a 30 year old daughter & two grown nephews. My daughter is a teacher & has her masters from Santa Clara University. I also helped with my friends daughter & son while they were growing up. I’ve been working in insurance the last 10 years, Aflac & Colonial life. I worked in retail for 20 years prior to that.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Tummy time with babies, walking to the parks and swimming in the pool during the summers. Lots of music and singing, Reading books before nap times.
With Toddlers, walking to the parks, playing with puzzles, paints, lots of music and singing, anything to help stay happy!
With older children, helping with homework, playing in the park, appropriate screen time. Pool time in summer & Rainy day movies, dress up, leggo sets, lots of music and singing!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I always try to be firm, calm and kind. Keeping boundaries but having fun. Parenting is hard work! Making sure everyone is alive and ok at the end of the day is exhausting and parents need help sometimes. Being on the same page as the parents is key to a harmonious home. All I ever wanted when I was working & raising my child was for her to be happy. Life is too short to not enjoy your time with your kids while they are still kids. There is nothing wrong with needing some help along the journey.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked at a special needs summer camp for several years. The children were a range of special needs from autistic, downs, & cerebral palsy.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Funny story, I was watching a toddler, he was very vocal and happy, and he'd show me his toys daily to let me know what he wanted to do. He had started potty training and was having a hard time with it. He'd run behind the couch and grunt out a poop in his pull ups. I started the M&M game, one M&M for pee and two for a poop. We had a little chart I made for him, he'd also get a happy face or a sad face. When I changed him for the last time, he screamed, "I'm a big boy and do not poop in my pants anymore!" I told him that was amazing! Great job! He then said with a NY Italian mob boss accent, "Ya, its about time already!" hahaha!
