A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Kamilah Kinch, I am a recent graduate of Hampton University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Originally from Connecticut, I will be spending time in the DC area for a federal internship and I am currently looking to babysit for families who may need an extra helping hand.

I am responsible, caring, and enjoy working with children in supportive and engaging environments. My background in psychology has strengthened my communication, patience, and understanding of child development. I would love the opportunity to assist families with childcare needs and help create a safe, positive experience for your children.

I look forward to the possibility of working with you and your family!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

- I have volunteered back in my home town reading to a kindergarten class!
- I am the oldest to my sibling, I have been preparing meals, helping with homework and putting them to bed since 10 years old!
- I also help babysit for family friends in my neighborhood as well as their pets!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy reading to children and encourage limited screen time while babysitting. I love engaging children in activities that spark their creativity, curiosity, and imagination, while creating a fun, safe, and supportive environment for learning and growth.

-Puzzles
-Coloring/drawing
-Random Facts
- I also enjoy activities that the child says they enjoy as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

- Patience
- Understanding every kid communicates differently
- Active listening
- Being attentive

My experience with special needs children...

I have babysat special needs children. The first few hours is me getting a grasp on how they communicate especially if they're nonverbal because everyone communicates in their own way. Once I have mastered that, it's smooth sailing from there. The key is to make them as comfortable as possible and allow them to lead.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The sweetest moment I remember is when I to go to college and the children I babysat for thought they were coming to college with me too!! Sad but so sweet and kind.

Akel H. - Seeking Work in Washington

Babysitter Available in Washington, DC: Akel H.

Hi, my name is Akel Harrington. I have basically 18 years worth of childcare experience due to me having four siblings on my mother side and four siblings on my father side and being the oldest on both sides I had to grow up helping my mother and my father with my siblings which also helped me gain the natural skill of helping out with children, which led to me doing three years of paid babysitting/childcare. I am also good with kids with special needs because I also have one sibling on my mother side who has autism and another one of my dad side who has autism.
