My experience with special needs children...
I have babysat special needs children. The first few hours is me getting a grasp on how they communicate especially if they're nonverbal because everyone communicates in their own way. Once I have mastered that, it's smooth sailing from there. The key is to make them as comfortable as possible and allow them to lead.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The sweetest moment I remember is when I to go to college and the children I babysat for thought they were coming to college with me too!! Sad but so sweet and kind.

Babysitter Available in Washington, DC: Princeton S.
I'm Princeton, a university student in D.C.! I love working with kids and have been doing so for most of my life. I am even studying to become a developmental psychologist. I have a long history of working with kids, having babysat for family regularly for the past four years. This includes caring for children with a range of special needs, such as mobility needs, non-verbal children, children with ADHD or ASD, and more.
In addition to that, I have extensive experience tutoring children of all ages, and I have taken multiple babysitting classes. Regardless of any additional needs, I love to care for, teach, work with, and play with all children.

have nearly 5 years of experience working in childcare. From September of 2024 til January 2026 I worked as an Assistant Preschool Teacher at O2B Kids, where I supported classroom activities, help implement educational routines, and assist with the care and supervision of young children. In addition to my role at the preschool, I also provided regular babysitting services since October 2024 till February 2026 for a 2-year-old girl. From 2022 til 2023, I was a nanny of a 1-year-old boy. I have also been tutoring children since 2019 in English and Spanish. These experiences have strengthened my skills in early childhood development, safety, and nurturing care.

Babysitter Available in Washington, DC: Akel H.
Hi, my name is Akel Harrington. I have basically 18 years worth of childcare experience due to me having four siblings on my mother side and four siblings on my father side and being the oldest on both sides I had to grow up helping my mother and my father with my siblings which also helped me gain the natural skill of helping out with children, which led to me doing three years of paid babysitting/childcare. I am also good with kids with special needs because I also have one sibling on my mother side who has autism and another one of my dad side who has autism.
