"Karen worked with our family for almost two years as a full-time nanny. She is responsible, kind, caring, on time, strives to do everything in a manner consistent with how we (the parents) would do, she was clean, supported skill development for our children (for example, she didn't just pick up after our kids, she insured the kids pick it up after themselves) the list goes on.
Our children ADORE her and she was like a member of our family.
Karen started working with our family when our daughter was 5 years old and my son was 9 (He has Down syndrome and Autism). She learned our children's personalities and knew how to engage them in play, how to discipline (being kind, yet firm and always holding boundaries), and she learned everyone's routine quickly (amidst a very hectic family schedule).
She had MANY responsibilities with us - too many to fit in the allowable space here. In the end, she had fun with our children, loves them, and they love her. I highly recommend Karen."

I volunteered for over five years with Familia Adonai Orphanage & Church in Brazil. My work at the orphanage was occasional, while my involvement with the church was more regular. I spent time with children from infancy to around 12 years old, helping with storytelling, arts and crafts, games, group activities, and daily routines.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love outdoor activities with children, especially going to the park, being in nature, walking, and staying active. I’m also an artist, so I really enjoy sharing creativity through painting, drawing, and arts and crafts.
I love music, singing, and listening to songs together, and reading and telling stories is one of my favorite activities. I also enjoy playing games and sometimes baking together.

The most important part about being a nanny...
To me, the most important part of being a nanny is knowing that you are helping shape a little person who is growing and discovering the world every day. It feels a little like caring for a small plant—you give love, patience, guidance, and good values, and over time you get to watch them grow into who they are. Being part of their childhood, their development, and so many meaningful little moments is something I find very special.
My experience with special needs children...
I was an au pair (live-in nanny) for almost two years for a family with two children. When I started, the boy was 9 years old and had Down syndrome and autism, and I also cared for his 5-year-old sister.
My responsibilities included school drop-offs and pick-ups, activities, meals, outings, child-related laundry and organization, and light housekeeping related to the children. I also participated in his ABA therapy and learned techniques to better understand and support his behaviors and needs. I helped with routines, feeding, medication as directed by the family, and created fun activities and outings for both children.
That experience taught me a lot about patience, consistency, communication, and adapting my care to each child’s individual needs.

My favorite nanny moments are watching children grow, learn, and discover new things. I especially love seeing milestones like their first steps, hearing new words, and watching their personalities develop. It’s so special to see how happy and proud they are when they accomplish something new, and I feel very grateful to be part of those moments.
