The most important part about being a nanny...
I value the importance of learning and play within a child's early years. I think that its important to encourage activities that provide a wide range of experiences. I also prioritize safety and trust, and I want any child I work with to know that they can tell me anything and communicate the way they feel. We are advocates for children, and it's our responsibility as caretakers to speak up for them when needed.
My experience with special needs children...
I interned with a school occupational therapist for 6 months in my undergraduate schooling. We worked with students with autism and other learning disabilities across 7 schools in the MPS district. We saw a case load of around 40 kids per week, traveling between schools. We taught handwriting, emotional regulation skills, fine motor skills, and social skills.
