A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Kari, and I am an experienced early childhood educator with a passion for nurturing young children through hands-on learning, creativity, and exploration.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education from Murray State University, and I hold a proficiency in Special Education from University of the Cumberlands. Throughout my career, I’ve developed strong skills in:

Curriculum design tailored to developmental milestones and individual needs
Behavior management using positive guidance and evidence-based strategies
Parent communication and relationship-building rooted in trust and transparency

As a nanny, I bring the structure and professionalism of an educator into a home environment while maintaining warmth and flexibility. I believe children learn best through active play, outdoor exploration, and real-world experiences.

My goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where children feel confident to explore, learn, and grow.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Over the past nine years, I’ve worked in both private and public preschool settings, supporting children ages 1–5. My experience includes five years in a private preschool and four years in a public preschool, where I currently teach.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe children learn best through active play, outdoor exploration, and real-world experiences. You’ll often find me encouraging nature walks, imaginative play, sensory activities, and meaningful interactions rather than relying heavily on screens or technology.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important thing about being a nanny is building a genuine, trusting relationship with both the child and the family. Children thrive when they feel safe, understood, and consistently supported, and that kind of connection can only happen when a caregiver is truly present, attentive, and invested in their growth. Beyond supervision, a nanny plays a key role in shaping a child’s confidence, emotional development, and curiosity about the world.

After spending years in the education field, I’ve made the intentional decision to transition into a more personal role as a nanny. While I’ve valued my time in the classroom, I’ve found that I’m most effective when I can focus on individual children rather than managing the many demands of a larger group setting. In a one-on-one or small group environment, I’m able to tailor learning experiences, provide more consistent emotional support, and build stronger relationships—not only with the child, but with the family as a whole.

My experience with special needs children...

I also bring extensive experience working with children who have diverse learning and developmental needs, including those with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and high behavioral support needs. Through both my specialized training and hands-on classroom experience, I have developed and implemented individualized action plans tailored to each child’s strengths and challenges. This includes creating structured routines, adapting curriculum to meet sensory and cognitive needs, and using positive behavior support strategies to foster emotional regulation and social growth. I have collaborated closely with families, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistency across environments, while also designing targeted lessons that promote engagement, independence, and confidence. My approach is patient, intentional, and rooted in understanding that every child learns differently, and I take pride in creating an inclusive environment where all children feel supported and capable of success.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Although I haven’t formally worked as a nanny yet, I’ve been fortunate to experience many meaningful moments throughout my years in early childhood education that reflect the kind of connections I hope to build in a nanny role. Some of my favorite moments have been seeing a child accomplish something they once struggled with—whether that’s using words instead of behaviors to express themselves, successfully joining a group activity, or mastering a new skill after lots of encouragement and support. Those small but powerful breakthroughs are incredibly rewarding and remind me why I love working with young children.

As I transition into nannying, I look forward to creating those same kinds of meaningful, everyday moments in a more personal setting—whether it’s exploring nature together, helping a child gain confidence in something new, or simply building a strong, trusting relationship where they feel safe, understood, and excited to learn.
