The most important part about being a nanny is establishing and building a bond with the kids you work with. It's important for kids to be comfortable with you and see you as someone fun and trusting. It is always my priority to have kids be excited for their day with me, opposed to dreading it.

I worked with this really shy 3rd grader who was very reserved and kept to herself. I started talking to her a little more everyday so she got comfortable with me, everyday she got to be a little goofier and more confident. I even found her more willing to play with kids her own age. My favorite moment was on the last day of program she was being so silly, confident, and completely herself. When her parents came to pick her up, she ran over to me and gave me a hug and whispered she loved me and hoped I had a great summer. I still keep in touch with the family to this day. It was so important to me because it showed that I can help make a difference with kids and their happiness.
