I have been an infant and toddler teacher in a daycare for 3 years. I have been nannying and babysitting for roughly 10 years children between the ages of 6 weeks and 4 years.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Having one on one care. Every child is different. Every child has different needs and different ways of learning and expressing themselves. When we have one on one care, I can make sure that child gets what they need individually.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with children who have had varying degrees of Autism, ADHD, and Aspergers. All of which were between 18-24 months. Making additional efforts to give those children one on one care and individualized their care plans along with their parents to give them better care and love.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was talking with one of my kids in my toddler class about random things, and she stopped me, mid-sentence, putting her hand on my cheek, looking me right in the eyes, and just rubbing it with her thumb. I was dumbstruck and my heart almost exploded at how sweet she was. I gave her a big hug and tried not to cry even though I know it was a pretty simple thing.
