Hi! My name is Karter and I’m 22 years old. I have three nephews and four nieces that I watch all the time and love so much! I have 3 cats and love working with kids. I’m currently a fourth-year student at UC and will be graduating this spring with my bachelor’s degree in Social Work. I will also be earning my certificate in development disabilities. I am currently interning part-time at a child welfare agency, and with this experience I have been able to interact with children of all ages with a variety of different needs. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My oldest nephew was born when I was 10 so I began taking care of children at a young age. Over the past 12 years, I’ve witnessed the arrival of six more nieces and nephews, and have been blessed with the opportunity to be in their lives and care for them. I interact with children very frequently at my internship, as well as families of all types!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love meeting a child where they’re at, but also love teaching them new things and skills! I personally love to craft, listen to music, and spend time outside. When I’m with my nieces and nephews we’ll often play basketball, color, play video games or board games, or watch movies together!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think it’s critical to be a strong support for a child, and always care for them and make sure their needs are met. Most of my childhood memories are those with babysitters or nanny’s, laughing so hard I thought my belly would cramp up forever. I believe a child should always feel loved and safe, and their childhood should be full of memories they never forget.

My experience with special needs children...

At my internship I have met and interacted with children of varying needs, including non-verbal children, children with behavioral needs, and children with very limited cognitive functioning. I am always open to learning more and will always ensure every child I meet or care for is comfortable.
