A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Karli and I'm a student at Texas Tech University. I'm studying Pre Speech, Language and Hearing sciences with the hope to be a speech therapist in an elementary school :). I've always had a passion to work with kids and my family would say they're almost drawn to me based on the fact I always end up with someones baby in my arms at any family function. Not only am I responsible, attentive and a creative problem solver but I make sure to understand each individual child I work with to ensure that I can create an environment that they'll be comfortable in because every kid is special and requires different methods of communication.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I've been babysitting since I was 14 and I worked in a kindergarten classroom the entirety of my senior year as a teaching assistant. I also was a small group leader for middle school girls at my home church for 3 years and also went on a mission trip to Mexico to help run a summer camp where we taught children english.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love packing a picnic and taking the kids to a park if it's warm enough outside. I also enjoy learning new arts and crafts to do with them along with reading!

My experience with special needs children...

I was able to shadow one of the special needs teachers in my elementary school and see what working one on one with them would look like depending on their impairment. My cousin also just turned 10, is nonverbal and gets around using his wheelchair but I love spending time and playing with him.
